The Frenchlands Gate estate is a private housing complex in Surrey with a range of bespoke houses and mews style apartments set in landscaped gardens. The typical leaseholder is a person of some substance who is generally downsizing into a retirement situation.

The properties are maintained to a high standard with a resident estates manager who deals with day to day repairs and the services of a property consultant to procure and manage larger planned and cyclical works.

While requiring evidence of value for money, the leaseholders are primarily concerned with the quality of the work and the mitigation of any disturbance to the community.

Work to the internals took into consideration the fact that the East/West alignment of several of the building meant that direct sunlight was not a major factor in the internal lighting of the rooms and the colour scheme needed to be pale without being stark to maximise the use of natural light.

The cream colour chosen was enhanced by the pale woodgrain effect of the kitchen units while living rooms were given pastel coloured feature panels to avoid a bland look.
